The FIA has adopted the new homologation standard 8877-2022 introduced to increase safety in karting. This standard replaces the previous LEVEL ratings with a new GRADE system and introduces stricter test methods for wear resistance. In addition, homologation requirements for gloves and shoes have been added. Important dates to keep in mind include:

• December 31, 2024: Last date when production of karting equipment according to the old standard is allowed.
• Jan. 1, 2025: The new standard becomes mandatory for all karting competitions on the FIA International Sporting Calendar.
• December 31, 2029: Last date on which equipment may be used according to the old standard.
• January 1, 2030: Only equipment complying with the FIA 8877-2022 standard is allowed in FIA-homologated competitions.
