Important considerations when choosing rib protection

For rib protection, there are no specific homologation requirements from the FIA/CIK. This means that there are no universal guidelines that these protection products must meet. Therefore, it is important to put safety first and get proper advice before purchasing a rib protector.

Rib and chest injuries are common problems in karting, with bruised ribs being one of the most common complaints. While injuries are not always completely preventable, a quality rib protector can significantly reduce the severity and prevent much discomfort.

Who's Bengio?

Bengio was founded more than 15 years ago by Stefano Begnozzi, following a serious chest injury suffered by his son Alessandro, a promising kart racer, in an accident. This incident revealed that the available rib protectors did not provide sufficient protection. Stefano decided to develop a new rib protector that was ergonomically designed and combined higher safety standards.

The result is a product that spent more than a year in development and was tested and improved with the help of five-time world champion Danilo Rossi and the DR Racing Team. Bengio rib guards have since become a household name in karting, thanks to their excellent quality and reliability.
